Grab Holdings Partners with Cambodia to Advance EV Policies and Ride-Hailing Infrastructure

Singapore-based technology giant Grab Holdings Inc. is expanding its strategic engagement with the Royal Government of Cambodia to support national electric vehicle policies and accelerate digital economy integration across the Kingdom. The prospective collaboration was highlighted during a high-level working meeting on 31 August 2026, between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and a senior Grab delegation led by Ms. Chin Yin Ong, Chief Organisation Capability Officer.

The bilateral dialogue focused on evaluating operational updates from Grab’s local platform while establishing concrete frameworks for public-private cooperation in green transport transition. Key agenda items included aligning corporate initiatives with national electric vehicle adoption plans, planning the rollout of specialized charging station infrastructure, and providing corporate feedback to help shape forthcoming regulatory guidelines governing app-based transport pricing structures.

Welcoming the delegation, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol commended Grab for its sustained commitment to advancing Cambodia’s digital infrastructure and sustainable transport ecosystem. He emphasized that state institutions stand ready to support private sector initiatives that modernize local transport networks, enhance urban logistics efficiency, and promote clean energy adoption across the country.

To optimize its market presence and maximize local socio-economic impacts, Grab requested strategic recommendations and technical guidance from the Council for the Development of Cambodia to shape its business action plan. The company outlined three primary action areas, beginning with feasibility studies to establish a dedicated Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Hub aimed at empowering local businesses.
