Strategic technical session addresses site inspection findings on Northern and Southern railway lines to shape national infrastructure priorities

Phnom Penh: Modernizing Cambodia’s railway network and elevating track safety have taken a decisive step forward as the government aligns its infrastructure targets with international expertise. According to a meeting on August 28, 2026, H.E. Vasim Sorya, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, chaired a wrap-up mission meeting with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the ministry headquarters. The session reviewed the technical assistance project dedicated to railway infrastructure development and safety enhancement in Cambodia, bringing together ministry leadership, advisors, and specialized technical officers.

The consultation focused on evaluating comprehensive field findings gathered during site inspections along the country’s Northern and Southern railway lines. Delegates analyzed key operational dynamics, engineering standards, and safety conditions, while establishing concrete next steps to ensure future project implementation directly addresses Cambodia’s national transport priorities and logistics requirements.

During the session, H.E. Vasim Sorya expressed sincere gratitude to the ADB delegation for their hands-on approach and dedication during the railway field assessments. The Undersecretary commended the close partnership between the ADB and the ministry, emphasizing that ground-level evaluations are vital to creating targeted, evidence-based solutions for the national rail system.
