Cambodia Set to Receive Significant Aid from South Korea

This year, Cambodia is expected to receive approximately USD 350 million from the South Korean government to support crucial development sectors. This announcement came during the 2025 Korea-Cambodia Bilateral Meeting on Development Cooperation, hosted at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

HE PARK Jung-Wook, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, and HE Chhiang Yanara, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions and Second Vice President of the CDC, co-chaired the meeting.

Key topics on the agenda included Korea’s planned grant aid for Cambodia in 2025 and future avenues for collaboration. As part of the initiative, the Korean government plans to channel funds into vital areas including education, water management, health and sanitation, transportation, and rural development.

The aid package will feature 27 concessional loans, notably for the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project, alongside 62 grant projects, such as a National Children’s Hospital capacity-building initiative.

In addition to this financial support, approximately 200 Korean companies operate in Cambodia across various manufacturing, finance, construction, and real estate sectors, significantly bolstering economic cooperation between the two nations. Cambodia also hosts around 10,000 Korean nationals, fostering enhanced people-to-people exchanges.

As Cambodia continues to strengthen its partnership with South Korea, this funding is expected to impact the country’s development trajectory in the coming year.
