Cambodia Unveils Visionary $36 Billion Logistics Master Plan to Secure Global Competitiveness

Comprehensive decade-long strategy encompassing 174 projects aims to revolutionize national transport infrastructure and attract high-value foreign investment

In a major step toward transforming the kingdom into a regional trade hub, the Royal Government of Cambodia has officially launched an ambitious master plan to overhaul its intermodal transport and logistics systems. This strategic roadmap, involving a projected investment of $36 billion, was the central focus of the 10th National Logistics Council meeting held on April 6, 2026.

Presiding over the high-level session, His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Chairman of the National Logistics Council, highlighted the critical role of logistics in the nation’s economic future. He noted that a robust and efficient logistics infrastructure is a primary catalyst for attracting foreign direct investment, which in turn serves as the engine for job creation and sustainable growth for the Cambodian people.

Recognizing the urgency of these improvements, the government has established the Comprehensive Intermodal Transport and Logistics System Master Plan 2023-2033. This expansive decade-long initiative identifies 174 priority projects designed to modernize the country’s transport network. The projects range from road and rail upgrades to port expansions and digital logistics integration, all aimed at reducing costs and increasing the speed of trade.

The primary objective of this master plan is to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Cambodia’s logistics sector on the global stage. By streamlining connectivity with regional neighbors and international markets, the government intends to position the kingdom as a more attractive and reliable destination for global supply chains.

The 10th National Logistics Council meeting brought together leaders from various ministries and relevant institutions to review current progress and address existing challenges. This collaborative approach ensures that the 174 projects remain on track to meet the nation’s strategic goals of becoming an integrated and modernized logistics gateway in Southeast Asia.
