Strengthening Regional Connectivity: Cambodia and Vietnam Forge Logistics Development Agreement

Exciting developments are on the horizon as the General Department of Logistics of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia and the General Department of Logistics and the Vietnam Institute of Development and Strategy (TDSI) prepare to sign a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering logistics development projects between the two nations. Eager to exchange practical experiences and insights, both parties are currently engaged in a productive meeting to pave the way for future collaboration.

This momentous announcement follows the recent visit of the Cambodian delegation from the Ministry of Public Works to esteemed institutes and universities in Vietnam from 16 to 17 May 2023.

During this visit, Mr. Chheang Pich, Director General of the General Department of Logistics, expressed the fruitful discussions held with the Institute for Development and Strategy (TDSI) and Vietnam Maritime University (VMU), leading to the preparation of a comprehensive MoU.

The bilateral meeting between the General Department of Logistics of Cambodia and the Institute (TDSI) focused on exploring collaboration opportunities, formulating logistics development projects, and fostering research in ecological logistics. With both parties displaying a strong commitment to cooperation, the imminent signing of the MoU heralds a promising future for logistics development between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Notably, the discussions also resulted in a warm reception from VMU University, which expressed enthusiasm for knowledge exchange and cooperation in providing short training courses, higher education, and postgraduate training to civil servants from the General Departments of Logistics of both countries. This commitment to capacity building ensures a well-prepared workforce ready to drive logistics excellence in the years to come.

The forthcoming signing of the logistics development MoU between Cambodia and Vietnam marks a significant milestone in the quest for enhanced regional connectivity. By leveraging shared experiences and expertise, both nations are poised to unlock immense potential in the logistics sector, bolstering economic growth and promoting seamless trade.
