Cambodian Kuna Company Invests USD 60 Million in New Aluminum Processing Plant in Sihanoukville

In a significant boost to Cambodia’s economy, Cambodian Kuna New Energy Co., Ltd. has announced a substantial investment of USD 60 million to establish an aluminum processing plant in Sihanoukville. The project is expected to create approximately 540 jobs, providing a welcome employment boost to the local community.

The announcement was made during an inter-ministerial meeting focused on reviewing the project’s full environmental impact assessment. The meeting was chaired by HE Heng Nareth, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Environment, alongside Mr. Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville Province.

Strategically located within the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, the new facility will process semi-finished aluminum ingots into aluminum sheets and assemblies intended for export to markets across ASEAN and the United States. This initiative promises to deliver significant economic benefits, particularly during construction and implementation, including job creation, enhancement of local technical skills, and fostering a favorable environment for future investments.

Additionally, stakeholders at the meeting emphasized the importance of mitigating environmental impacts associated with the project. They provided guidance to the project owners on effective management strategies to minimize potential risks while maximizing economic returns.

The establishment of this aluminum processing plant marks a pivotal step in advancing industrial development in Sihanoukville, contributing to the province’s growing reputation as a hub for manufacturing and investment.
