Kandal Province: Expanding green public zones and protecting natural ecosystems surrounding the capital have become core tenets of Cambodia’s sustainable urbanization agenda. On September 1, 2026, Secretary of State H.E. Chhoeun Bunnarat led a specialized technical working team from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction to inspect designated sites for two major public space initiatives in Kandal province. The inspection focused on the proposed 42-hectare Boeng Tboung Park project in Khsach Kandal district and the 22-hectare Boeng Damrei Srut Park project in Arey Ksat city.

Initial concepts for both projects were drafted by district and municipal administrative teams with the primary objective of establishing accessible, eco-friendly public spaces for community recreation and leisure. Following this field assessment, ministry experts will collaborate with local officials to refine the architectural blueprints and engineering designs. Technical planning will emphasize integrating infrastructure with existing natural landscapes to create attractive, functionally sound recreational environments that complement local ecosystems.

Developing these two public parks—encompassing 64 hectares of total land area—aligns with regional efforts to balance rapid suburban expansion with environmental conservation. As Khsach Kandal and Arey Ksat continue to attract real estate investments and urban migration, preserving natural water bodies and designating permanent green reserves serve as key measures to mitigate urban heat island effects and enhance spatial liveability.

Notably, the joint effort by the ministry and local administration to advance the Boeng Tboung and Boeng Damrei Srut park projects marks a practical step forward in Cambodia’s commitment to sustainable urban development.
