China Commits Up to US$100m for Advanced Water Purification in Cambodia

Hainan Litree Purifying Technology Co., Ltd. from China has announced plans to invest between US$50-US$100 million in Cambodia’s water sector over the next three to five years, focusing on water purification products using UF membrane technology. This announcement was made during a meeting between Dr Cai Yunlong, CEO of Hainan Litree Purifying Technology Co., Ltd., and HE Hem Vandy, Cambodia’s Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation on 10 May 2024.

Dr Cai Yunlong highlighted the company’s significant contributions to improving water standards in Cambodia. Utilising UF membrane technology, Litree’s products have a purification capacity of 11,000 cubic metres per day across various provinces. The company’s commitment to investing an additional US$50-US$100 million over the next three to five years demonstrates our dedication to enhancing Cambodia’s water infrastructure, stated Dr. Cai Yunlong.

HE Hem Vandy expressed strong support for the investment, encouraging the company to explore opportunities to sell ice to private water operators, leveraging its successful technology and experience. He also urged further expansion into areas lacking current water coverage, underscoring the need for comprehensive sector development.

Established in 1992, Hainan Litree Purifying Technology is renowned for its UF Membrane technology. Litree water purifiers are recognized for their efficiency in urban industrial water supply and household water purification, benefiting over 3 million households globally.
