Chinese Association Proposes New SEZ on 32 Hectares in Takeo Province

The Chaosan Chinese Business Association has proposed the establishment of a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on a 32-hectare site in Bati district, Takeo province, with the primary objective of creating job opportunities for the local population.

This initiative was discussed during a meeting between HE Vy Samnang, the Governor of Takeo Province, and Mr. Oknha Taing Lak Hav, President of the Chaosan Chinese Business Association, on 20 August 2024.

During the discussions, Mr. Oknha Taing Lak Hav sought the support and cooperation of the Takeo Provincial Administration to facilitate the creation of this SEZ. The project is expected to significantly reduce migration by providing employment and boosting the local economy.

HE Vy Samnang encouraged Mr Oknha Taing Lak Hav to continue efforts in attracting more investors to Takeo province, emphasising the provincial authorities’ readiness to collaborate and support such initiatives.

Cambodia currently hosts 44 special economic zones, which have generated nearly 200,000 jobs, playing a vital role in advancing the industrial sector and the national economy. (Read more)
