Chinese Company Eyes Cambodian Agricultural Exports

 

In a significant development for international trade, Wuxi Guolian Group Co., Ltd., a venerable enterprise from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, has expressed a keen interest in processing Cambodian agricultural products for export to the Chinese market. This initiative was unveiled during a pivotal meeting on June 27, 2025, between His Excellency Chea Wutthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Investment Committee, and Mr. Hua Xiao Feng, Vice President of Wuxi Guolian Group.

During the meeting, Mr. Hua extended his gratitude to the Council for the Development of Cambodia for its continued support for Wuxi investors and for offering valuable insights into the business landscape in Cambodia. He outlined the company’s commitment to enhancing the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, aiming to boost the processing of agricultural products for export purposes. Mr. Hua expressed hope that the Royal Government of Cambodia would maintain its supportive stance toward Wuxi investors and the development of the economic zone.

In reciprocation, H.E. Chea Wutthy conveyed his enthusiasm for the partnership and encouraged further investment from Wuxi in Cambodia, emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two nations. He also urged Chinese partners to enhance investment in the production of raw materials and semi-finished goods in Cambodia, aiming for a more stable supply chain and increased domestic value addition.

Founded over a century ago, Wuxi Guolian Group Co., Ltd. is a major state-owned enterprise involved in diverse sectors, including finance, manufacturing, and renewable energy. The company has also made significant investments in infrastructure projects such as airports, hotels, and subway systems.

This collaboration holds promise for boosting Cambodia’s agricultural sector and enhancing its export capabilities, as the country looks to strengthen its economic relationship with China.
