Chinese Construction Giant CCTEB Explores Investment in Cambodia’s Waterways and Ports

Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to modernize its logistics networks gained new momentum as Chinese state-owned construction titan China Construction Third Engineering Bureau (CCTEB) expressed keen interest in investing in and supporting the Kingdom’s inland waterway and port infrastructure projects. The strategic alignment was discussed during a high-level meeting between HE Heng Sothey, Director General of the General Directorate of Waterway, Maritime Transport and Ports, and executive leadership at CCTEB during an official delegation visit to the company’s headquarters in Beijing, China, on August 14, 2026.

The bilateral meeting aimed to deepen technical cooperation and explore practical opportunities for collaboration across multiple phases of infrastructure development, including feasibility studies, engineering design, physical construction, financial investment, and human resource development in Cambodia’s maritime and inland waterway transport sectors. Throughout the exchange, the Cambodian delegation evaluated CCTEB’s extensive international track record and modern technological expertise in executing major physical infrastructure projects worldwide.

In response, CCTEB representatives conveyed strong enthusiasm for participating in capital investment and technical execution for Cambodia’s port and waterway master planning, aligning their corporate capabilities with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s national economic development strategies.
