Construction on the first COVID-19 vaccine packaging plant in Cambodia located in the north of Phnom Penh will officially begin in November 2022

HE Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, led the officials to the site of the factory on 26  August to inspect the sand dredging process and the construction of fundamental infrastructure to prepare for the official construction site.

According to the Minister of Health, the factory will be built on an area of about 5 hectares located along NR5 in Ponhea Leu district, Kandal province.

Built in collaboration with Chinese company Sinovac, the Cambodian pharmaceutical company (CPE) plans to invest about US$100 million in initial investment.

The Ministry of Health, CPE, and China’s Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd in July signed the Memorandum of Understanding to permit Cambodia to fill and pack COVID-19 inactivated vaccines.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the CPE is authorized to fill and package locally inactivated COVID-19 vaccine supplied by Sinovac Life Sciences and supply it to the government for three years from 2024 to 2026. (Read more)
