Groundbreaking on 38-Road Renovation Project in Siem Reap City Delayed

The groundbreaking ceremony of the 38-road construction in Siem Reap, which was previously scheduled to be held in mid-November, has been delayed due to revised COVID-19 restrictions.

The delay is mainly due to the fact that PM Hun Sen started his self-quarantine after being in contact with the Hungarian foreign minister who tested positive for the virus. Though PM Hun Sen tested negative for COVID-19 as of today, he decided to delay events for public safety.

“Please to be informed the delay of 38-road construction groundbreaking ceremony in Siem Reap province which was scheduled to be held on November 16, 2020 to be made later,” he wrote in a post in Facebook page.

Before the delay was announced, the groundbreaking ceremony of the 38-road construction was set to be held on 16 November under the auspices of Prime Minister Hun Sen after inter-ministries completely studies wrapped up and pinned the locations for road construction.(Read more)

Construction of the 38 roads will cost US$150 million which Prime Minister Hun Sen approved on 04 September. (Read more)
