Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh completed around 97% and to be open in the next few months

“As of this moment, we are almost finished with the construction component of the hotel. It is approximately 97%. The final fit-out is ongoing, interior works, décor and artwork, loose furniture, spa, and other similar areas,” according to Mr. Simon Dell, Senior Vice President of Hotels and Hospitality of Chip Mong, commenting on the construction progress of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh in an interview with Construction and Property Magazine on 13 May 2020.

Regarding the COVID 19 impact on the construction and opening process of the hotel, Simon Dell commented “Yes, like almost every other business, the impact of COVID-19 can be felt on this project. We have some consultants, products, and suppliers based in or coming from, overseas and this has of course been a challenge to our timelines. However, we are working through these challenges and are confident that we will be able to drive the project to completion and open the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh within the next few months.”

As a five-star Hyatt branded hotel, the quality of the construction and services meet international specifications of design and safety. This includes 248 luxury rooms, 4 restaurants, and bars, including a stunning dining experience at the rooftop and a vibrant underground bar. There is also a spa, a pool, and extensive meeting and event facilities with a ballroom and multiple smaller conference and event rooms. The hotel facilities are designed to attract and serve both local and international business and leisure customers.

In addition to the above facilities, the design and ambiance of the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh Hotel was an important focus. Local and international guests will experience a skillful blend of traditional and modern styles – importantly, Chip Mong Group has made a successful effort to preserve and make good use of the existing French colonial villa at the road front.

Simon Dell added that “At Chip Mong Group, we are constantly evaluating the market and any business opportunities that present themselves. We actively seek to develop interesting projects and so it makes sense, to consider further options and feasibility within the hotel sector. We do not limit ourselves to the 5-star category, there are many target markets to be considered.”
