Impact Report 2025: AI and Bentley Systems Software Rescuing Global Infrastructure

Bentley Systems’ 2025 Impact Report highlights a transformative shift in the engineering sector, where artificial intelligence and advanced digital modeling are now essential for building resilient infrastructure.

A primary example of this success is the rescue of a critical 12,000-square-meter grain warehouse in Jazan, Saudi Arabia. Facing severe structural failure due to a dissolving underground salt dome, engineering firm GeoStruXer utilized Bentley’s PLAXIS software to create sophisticated 3D ground models that mapped the interaction between the soil and the foundation.

By integrating AI with Bentley’s applications, the team automated complex engineering calculations that would typically take months, pinpointing the exact placement of support piles. This digital approach saved over $2 million in costs and reduced carbon emissions and material use by 70%.

Bentley has now embedded these AI capabilities into its Open Applications and Infrastructure Cloud, allowing firms to automate tedious tasks like generating 2D drawings from 3D models.

CEO Nicholas Cumins describes AI as a “force multiplier” that bridges the gap between the high demand for modern infrastructure and limited engineering capacity. Beyond structural stability, Bentley’s subsurface technology, Seequent, is being used to advance renewable energy projects, such as geothermal power for data centers.

By prioritizing trustworthy AI and data security, Bentley is enabling the world’s leading engineering firms to deliver sustainable, high-performance infrastructure more efficiently than ever before.
