In four years, 36k Businesses Registered on Cambodia’s OBRP with Real Estate & Construction Leading the Way

Since the launch of Cambodia’s Online Business Registration Platform (OBRP) four years ago, 36,509 companies have registered, with the real estate sector leading the way. As of 15 June 2024, the businesses registered under this system boast a total investment capital of US$11.13 billion, with the construction and real estate sectors contributing US$1.18 billion and US$1.13 billion respectively, according to the progress report of the Online Business Registration Service.

The platform has seen the highest number of registrations in the restaurant and mobile catering services sector, with 3,140 businesses signed up. The report also highlights that 38% of the registered business owners are women, showcasing the platform’s contribution to gender diversity in entrepreneurship.

Launched on 15 June 2020, the OBRP aims to streamline the business environment in Cambodia by simplifying and speeding up the registration process across all sectors. Following the success of its initial phases, the Ministry of Economy and Finance introduced the third phase on 22 June 2023. This system enables companies and enterprises to register with over 10 ministries and institutions, making it a comprehensive solution for business setup in the country.

The significant investment from the construction and real estate sectors underscores their dominant role in Cambodia’s economic landscape. By facilitating easier registration, the OBRP is playing a crucial role in fostering a conducive environment for business growth and development.
