Khmer-Thai Stueng Bat International Border Checkpoint Nears Completion at 85%

The ambitious project to establish the Khmer-Thai Stueng Bat International Border Checkpoint and construct a vital road connection to National Road 5 is making significant strides towards completion. As of 14 May 2023, the construction progress stands at an impressive 85.05%, according to the joint site visit conducted by HE UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, HE Nou Vathan, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and key stakeholders.

This remarkable endeavor has been made possible through a concessional loan of approximately $26.5 million, graciously provided by the governments of Cambodia and Thailand. The construction companies, technical inspection firms, immigration officials, and other stakeholders have worked in close collaboration to ensure the successful realization of this project. Their dedication and expertise have brought the completion of the Stueng Bot-Ban Nong Ean International Border Checkpoint and the associated road connection within sight.  (Read more)

Commencing its construction in May 2020, the Stueng Bot International Port and its connecting road to National Road No. 5 have progressed steadily. The primary objective of this undertaking is to foster enhanced trade volume and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand. Central to this effort is the construction of the Stueng Bot-Banang Ean International Port Administration Building, which will serve as a crucial hub for facilitating smooth cross-border transactions.

As the project nears its final stages, the envisioned benefits of increased trade, enhanced regional connectivity, and strengthened relations between Cambodia and Thailand are within reach. The establishment of the Khmer-Thai Stueng Bat International Border Checkpoint symbolizes the ongoing commitment to fostering economic growth and cooperation between the two nations.
