Ministry of Public Works and Transport to Review Groundbreaking Sub-Decree on Roadbed Management

In a significant move to enhance road infrastructure management, His Excellency Peng Purnea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led an important meeting on December 26, 2025, to discuss a draft sub-decree focusing on the management of roadbed use along the country’s extensive road network.

This pivotal meeting, set to take place at the Ministry’s office, will see the participation of key leaders from the Ministry as well as relevant experts from various sectors. The primary objective is to comprehensively review and finalize the draft sub-decree before it is presented to the Council of Ministers for approval.

The proposed sub-decree aims to regulate the utilization of roadbeds/roadside, a critical aspect of road infrastructure that directly impacts safety and operational efficiency. As urban environments continue to evolve, effective management of roadbeds becomes increasingly vital in ensuring the safety of road users and the longevity of road structures.

According to recent studies, improper use of roadbeds has led to various issues, including public order, increased maintenance costs, and safety hazards. Experts anticipate that this new regulation will also encourage sustainable practices in road construction and maintenance, aligning with national development goals.

This meeting presents a crucial opportunity to gather insights from various stakeholders, ensuring that the regulations not only meet administrative standards but also reflect the needs of our communities.

Stakeholders from various sectors, including urban planning, engineering, and environmental advocacy groups, are expected to contribute valuable perspectives, underscoring the collaborative approach the Ministry is taking towards road management.

As the meeting approaches, the Ministry is optimistic that the outcome will pave the way for improved infrastructure policies that support Cambodia’s growing transportation needs and promote safer road usage for all citizens.

With road safety and infrastructure management being a pressing concern in many rapidly developing nations, the successful application of this sub-decree could serve as a model for urban development facing similar challenges.
