Strategic technical meeting focuses on procurement, financial management, and environmental-social safeguards to ensure efficient project execution

Phnom Penh: Strategic cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and international development partners continues to play a pivotal role in upgrading the kingdom’s transport infrastructure and boosting regional connectivity. On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 26, 2026, H.E. Heng Norn, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director, led the Cambodia Regional Connectivity Improvement Project Management Unit (CRCI-PMU) in a technical working meeting at the World Bank Cambodia Country Office in Phnom Penh. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Sadig Aliyev, Senior Transport Specialist at the World Bank, and attended by key technical officers and project specialists from both institutions.

The session focused on evaluating operational progress across three critical technical pillars under the World Bank financing framework: procurement procedures, financial management mechanisms, and environmental and social safeguard compliance. Delegates engaged in detailed discussions to address key implementation challenges, streamline administrative protocols, and map out priority action plans to ensure that project milestones are delivered smoothly, transparently, and on schedule.

During the consultation, H.E. Heng Norn expressed sincere appreciation to the World Bank delegation and technical specialists for their continuous support, technical guidance, and strong spirit of shared responsibility. The Project Director emphasized that close institutional collaboration and rigorous technical alignment remain vital to executing project activities according to scheduled benchmarks and long-term infrastructure goals.
