MOWRAM Dismantles Illegal Fence Encircling Stung Prek Tnaot State Property

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) has taken decisive action to dismantle illegal brick fences surrounding the Stung Prek Tnaot forage land, a state-owned property. This operation was led by Mr. Ouk Vuthy, Undersecretary of State of MORAM, who headed a team to inspect the site located in Kandal Stung district, Kandal province, and Kampol district, Phnom Penh. The mission aimed to reclaim the land through legal procedures and ensure its preservation for public use.

The working group conducted a thorough investigation into the history of housing construction and installed border posts to demarcate the state-owned Stung Prek Tnaot forage land. Additionally, the team demolished the illegal brick fence, reiterating the state’s commitment to maintaining this land for public benefit.

The ministry also issued a notification emphasizing that encroachment on Stung Prek Tnaot and the 7 Makara Reservoirs, both state properties, is strictly prohibited.

The ministry highlighted the legal consequences for illegal possession of state property, citing Article 71, which prescribes imprisonment for 2 to 5 years and fines ranging from 4,000,000 to 10,000,000 Riels for violations.

Furthermore, the ministry reported significant progress on the project to restore Stung Prek Tnaot, located east of National Road 3. The restoration is nearly complete, with 95% of the work finished, and is expected to be fully completed by June or July of this year. This project underscores the ministry’s commitment to preserving state property and enhancing its utility for the public. (Read more)
