Phnom Penh has more than 6,000 factories/SMEs with more than US$2 billion in production outputs

Phnom Penh is home to more than 6,000 factories and enterprises that employ over 510,000 workers, with a total production output of US$2 billion. These findings were presented at the annual meeting on review works report in 2022 and set objectives in 2023 held on March 9 by the Phnom Penh Capital Hall.

The governor of Phnom Penh, HE Khuong Sreng, highlighted that despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the city’s business activities have continued to grow. In particular, over 760 factories and 5,400 small and medium enterprises are operating in the capital.

The Phnom Penh Capital Hall received construction proposals for 1,100 projects with a capital of US$605 million in 2022. This underscores the city’s sustained demand for construction projects despite the ongoing pandemic.

The report suggests that Phnom Penh remains an attractive destination for business and investment, with a robust industrial sector and a growing demand for construction projects. As such, it is likely to continue to be a key driver of economic growth in Cambodia in the coming years.
