Regional Cooperation Targets Logistics Modernization to Fuel ASEAN Economic Growth

Cambodia leads a multi-national initiative to streamline supply chains and attract foreign investment through strategic public-private partnerships

On April 1, 2026, Cambodia and five other Southeast Asian nations convened a landmark conference titled Driving Economic Growth through Logistics. This collaborative event was organized with the primary goal of accelerating the modernization of the logistics sector across the ASEAN region, ensuring more efficient trade routes and greater economic resilience for all member states involved.

The high-level gathering featured a mix of in-person and virtual attendance, drawing representatives from EuroCham chapters in Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, and Laos. Key stakeholders from the EU-ASEAN Business Council and various transport and logistics committees joined regional leaders to address the evolving needs of the industry and discuss shared challenges in the global supply chain.

During the session, His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, outlined the strategic framework guiding this regional effort. He emphasized that the conference was built upon four critical pillars designed to transform the regional landscape and enhance connectivity.

The first strategic objective focuses on showcasing the tangible progress achieved through the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port Policy Paper, which serves as a blueprint for operational excellence. Secondly, the initiative highlights the success of collaborative models between the government and the private sector in upgrading national infrastructure and logistics services. Furthermore, the partnership aims to actively promote foreign direct investment into the logistics and supply chain sectors. Finally, the conference provides a vital platform for stakeholders across the region to exchange technical expertise and experiences, ultimately fostering a more integrated and modernized ASEAN logistics network.
