Repair Works on Flood-Damaged NR5 Section in Russey Keo Completed by End Month

The repair project on the NR5 section in Russey Keo district which was damaged by floods last year has reached the final pavement procedure and is scheduled to be completed on 25 March, according to the Phnom Penh Municipality.

The damaged section starts from the area in front of the SKD factory to the fishery distribution centre around Kilometre No 9, which is being paved with two-layer 9cm asphalt.

According to the municipality, the section is frequently flooded whenever there is heavy rain, which affects the road quality and causes difficulty for commuting. The new pavement will help reduce the problem.

Meanwhile, the separate NR5 Expansion project funded by a US$500-million Japanese loan is also approximately 50% completed as of February. The project is divided into three sections and scheduled to be complete by 2022. (Read more)
