S. Korea Provides US$2bn Loan to Cambodia for Key Infrastructure Development

The Government of the Republic of Korea has provided concessional loans of nearly US$2 billion to build two key infrastructures and boost the overall economy. 

The signing ceremony took place on 9 December with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen. 

One part of the loan worth US$245,909,000 will be used for the construction of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge Project (Old Market-Chroy Changvar, Chroy Changvar-Arey Ksat). The project is scheduled for construction in 2023. (Read more)

Meanwhile, another loan worth US$70 million will be used to enhance the power transmission system in Sihanoukville. 

Besides the two projects, South Korea provided a loan of US$1.5 billion for the Economic Development Cooperation Fund for 2022-2026, which will contribute to accelerating economic development and strengthening relations between the two countries.
