Tbong Khmum Province Celebrates 100% Success in Land Registration Initiative

Tbong Khmum Province has reached a significant milestone in local governance, completing systematic land registration across the province with an impressive 100% success rate, and ahead of schedule. In a remarkable feat, a total of 56,258 land titles have been issued to residents, highlighting the government’s dedication to enhancing land ownership clarity and security.

Mr. Poch Sothearith, Director of the Department of Land Management, Urbanization, Construction, and Cadastre, shared this news in a recent interview with the National Radio of Cambodia. He emphasized the department’s commitment to effective land resource management within the province, which spans over 5,250 square kilometers and includes six districts, one city, two communes, 62 villages, and 875 smaller communities.

The land registration initiative involved comprehensive surveys and meticulous efforts from skilled officers of the department, having assessed over 950,117 land titles in total. So far, a total of 561,258 land titles have been successfully issued, with 552,649 awarded to citizens.

This extensive land registration process categorizes land into state public land and state private land, encompassing a combined total of 4,117 plots. Mr. Sothearith pointed out the significant benefits this initiative has brought to the community. It not only provides citizens with a sense of stability through secure land ownership but also opens doors for economic opportunities, allowing residents to establish their livelihoods without the worry of land disputes. The clarity in land ownership is crucial in reducing conflicts that often arise from ambiguous land status and the lack of title deeds.

As these efforts continue, the Tbong Khmum authorities remain committed to improving the quality of life for their residents, ensuring that every individual has a rightful place to call home. This landmark achievement not only enhances community cohesion but also strengthens the foundation for sustainable development in the province.
