Ring Road 3 Construction Reaches 90% Progress, Completed in May 2023

The first phase of the Ring Road 3 construction project, which connects National Road No. 4 to National Road No. 1, is reported to have reached a completion rate of almost 90% as of 25 February 2023. According to HE Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, who inspected the site on 28 February, the road is expected to be completed in May 2023, which is ahead of the originally planned 12-month extension from last year. Following his inspection, the minister confirmed that the road meets the desired standards and is of good quality, stating, “there is nothing to worry about”.

In addition to the first phase, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has included the second phase of the Ring Road 3 project in the five-year rolling plan of Cambodia’s strategic partner, China, with the aim of raising funds to construct the remaining half in the east.

The Ring Road 3 project was inaugurated on 14 January 2019, under the auspices of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. With a road width of up to 27 metres in the city and 25 metres on the outskirts, the project is being financed through a loan of approximately US$273 million from the People’s Republic of China.
