Cambodia to Establish Embassy in Brazil to Strengthen Diplomatic Ties

The Royal Government of Cambodia has recently announced its decision to establish an Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the Federal Republic of Brazil, according to Sub-Decree No. 77 issued on 24 April 2023. The Embassy, located in the capital city of Brasilia, will be headed by a Chief of Mission who will have the status of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

This move is in line with Cambodia’s efforts to further strengthen diplomatic ties with Brazil, a country that is home to the largest population of Cambodian immigrants in South America. The establishment of the Embassy is expected to facilitate and enhance political, economic, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

In accordance with the sub-decree, the financial system for diplomats, technical officers, and service personnel of the Embassy will fall under category “A”. The composition of other diplomats, technical officers, and service personnel will be determined based on the actual work requirements.

The opening of the Embassy is a significant milestone for both Cambodia and Brazil, reflecting their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.
