Kampong Chhnang Multi-Purpose Port and Logistics Center to Launch soon, Revolutionizing Shipping Operations

The highly anticipated Kampong Chhnang Multi-Purpose Port and Logistics Center is gearing up for its official launch, poised to transform shipping and export operations in the region. During a visit on 26 June 2023, HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, confirmed that the port is ready to commence operations with the integration of cutting-edge STM technology equipment.

At the heart of this groundbreaking project lies advanced artificial intelligence technology and the Smart Truck Monitoring System (STM), which empowers efficient management, monitoring, and reporting capabilities. The digital technology system boasts the ability to accurately record and calculate the weight of goods, issue shipping invoices instantaneously via QR codes, and provide comprehensive reports that can be shared with relevant ministries and institutions through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s technology delivery.

Heng Sotheayut, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, emphasized the state-of-the-art nature of the technology, highlighting its capacity to regulate vehicle weighing and monitor the transportation of agricultural and mining goods in accordance with ministry regulations. Furthermore, this advanced system recognizes all types of license plates in Cambodia and automatically generates reports for all stakeholders utilizing the country’s expressways.

The Senior Minister emphasized the profound impact of digital technology in streamlining freight management operations within the port, leading to increased efficiency, compliance with weight regulations, enhanced transparency for the private sector, economic growth, and improved revenue management for the nation.

With a focus on land and water transport, the establishment of the Kampong Chhnang Multi-Purpose Port and Logistics Center aims to facilitate the transportation and export of agricultural products from regions including Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap, and Kampong Thom to international destinations.

The imminent opening of the Kampong Chhnang Multi-Purpose Port and Logistics Center heralds a new era in shipping and logistics capabilities, positioning Cambodia for increased connectivity, efficiency, and economic growth.
