Thirteen Korean Companies Eye Increased Investment in Cambodia

Thirteen prominent Korean companies, led by Mr Hacheong Yun, Director General of the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA Phnom Penh), have expressed keen interest in expanding their investment footprint in Cambodia. The delegation met with Deputy PM Sun Chanthol to explore lucrative investment opportunities, capitalising on Cambodia’s promising economic landscape.

During the meeting, the Deputy PM underscored Cambodia’s allure as an investment destination, citing factors such as political stability, robust economic growth, currency stability, skilled workforce, and ongoing infrastructure development.

He also highlighted the country’s investor-friendly policies and its active engagement in regional economic partnerships, including ASEAN, the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement, and the Cambodia-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Moreover, the Cambodian government has introduced incentives to attract investment in key sectors, particularly heavy industries such as electronics assembly, automobile manufacturing, and technology projects.

Among the thirteen companies keen on enhancing their presence in Cambodia are industry giants such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, LG Electronics, CJ Group, LX International, DAEJOO KC Group, Booyoung Group, Hanshin Engineering & Construction, KORINDO Group, Kolao Group, Korea Small and Medium Enterprises (KBIZ), and Maekyung Media Group.

This collaborative effort signifies a promising partnership between Korea and Cambodia, paving the way for mutually beneficial economic growth and development.
