US$5-million Eco-Friendly Cup & Straw Factory in Pursat Province Begins Production

TK&D, a US$5-milion eco-friendly cup and straw production factory located in Kroko district, Pursat province has officially opened for operation.

Founder of TK & D Lok Chumteav Tith Sokhom said during the opening ceremony on 19 September that the factory will produce paper cups and straws from flour of rice, corn, and cassava without any added chemicals.

“This kind of factory is quite rare in Cambodia. Thus, we hope that the establishment of TK & D will help protect the environment in Cambodia,” she added.

Pursat Governor HE Mao Thunin, who chaired the event, expressed full support for the investment and requested the firm to buy raw materials directly from farmers in the province.

The US$5-million worth factory is located on over 2 hectares in Takeo Krom village, Boeing Kanthout commune, Kroko district, Pursat province. Once fully operational, it will create over 100 jobs for locals.

Recently, RMA (Cambodia) Plc, the Ford motor distributor in Cambodia, also received permission from the government to establish a US$21-million assembly plant in Pursat province. (Read more)
