USA and Cambodia Strengthen Ties for a Prosperous Future

In a significant reaffirmation of their ongoing partnership, the United States has committed to deepening cooperation with Cambodia, aiming to foster a prosperous future for both nations. This commitment comes as the two countries prepare to celebrate the 249th anniversary of the United States’ Independence Day on July 4 and the 75th anniversary of Cambodia-US diplomatic relations on July 3, 2025.

During a recent event at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, Ms. Bridgette L. Walker, the Chargé d’Affaires, emphasized the importance of the 75th anniversary as a symbol of the strong friendship between the two countries. She reiterated the mutual pledge to enhance collaboration that promotes prosperity, peace, and progress.

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, echoed these sentiments, stating that Cambodia’s relationship with the United States is built on mutual respect and effective cooperation. He noted that this partnership has expanded significantly, covering areas like trade, investment, defense cooperation, education, cultural preservation, and people-to-people connections.

Highlighting Cambodia’s status as a reliable partner, His Excellency expressed optimism about the continued growth of friendly relations, which he deemed strategically vital for both nations.

Recent trade statistics reveal a positive trend: in the first five months of 2025, trade volume between Cambodia and its international partners exceeded USD 25 billion, a remarkable 18.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Notably, trade with the United States reached USD 4.4 million, reflecting a 27% surge. (Read more)
