Majestic 45-Meter-High Buddha Statue Set to Grace Kep Province’s Skyline

A towering 45-meter-high Buddha statue is poised to adorn the picturesque landscape of Kep province, marking a sacred site for Buddhists and an enchanting tourist attraction. This ambitious project was unveiled during a site inspection by H.E. Som Piseth, Governor of Kep province, and Venerable Monk Hum Bounty, President of the Cambodian Meditation Center, on September 25, 2023.

The impressive statue will find its home atop the Thurak Meditation Center’s mountainous terrain, nestled in the heart of Kep Village, Kep Commune, Kep province. This monumental endeavor goes beyond the Buddha statue; it encompasses the construction of an entire meditation center, 60 monastic residences, road infrastructure, and ample parking facilities.

H.E. Som Piseth emphasized that this remarkable addition aims to serve both the Buddhist community and religious tourism. It will provide a space for Buddhists to deepen their spiritual knowledge and offer tourists a captivating cultural experience. The revenue generated from this endeavor will also be reinvested in enhancing the well-being of Kep province’s residents.

This awe-inspiring initiative aligns with recent plans to erect Buddhist statues in various prominent provinces, such as the grand 88-meter-high Buddha statue in Preah Sihanouk and the majestic 108-meter-high Buddha Statue in Kompot. (Read more and more)
