Cambodia Approves 44 New Investments Worth US$396m in July

In July 2024, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved 44 new investment projects, including 41 new ventures and three production expansion projects, totalling US$396 million and creating 25,000 jobs. This significant investment approval highlights Cambodia’s growing attractiveness to investors.

Among the 44 projects, 31 are located outside the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and 13 within. Kampong Speu province attracted the most new investments with 13, followed by Takeo with seven and Svay Rieng with six.

Chinese investment dominated in July, accounting for 68.06% of the total investment, while domestic investment made up 14.24%.

Outside the SEZ:

The production expansion project for a laundry, dyeing, and printing factory located in Kraing Tea village, Preah Nipvan commune, Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu province. This project has an investment capital of approximately US$21 million and can create 74 jobs.

In special economic zones:

The establishment of the Koh Kong Che Cheang Special Economic Zone, located in O’Chrov village, Phlong village, Boeung Preav commune, and Chheu Neang village, Chroy Svay commune, Sre Ambel district, Koh Kong province. This project involves an investment of US$100 million and can create 331 additional jobs.

An investment project to establish a food processing plant (Galatin) located in the Koh Kong Che Cheang Special Economic Zone, with an investment of US$26 million, which can create 194 jobs.
