Cambodia and China Join Forces to Boost Cashew Exports Worth USD 35 Million Annually to the Chinese market

In a significant move to elevate agricultural trade, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on September 12, 2025, between a prominent Chinese company and the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, aimed at exporting Cambodian cashews to China, valued at an impressive USD 35 million per year.

The MoU was formalized under the leadership of His Excellency Samheng Bora, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce, alongside Mr. ZOU Zhun, Director of the Department of Agriculture. Also present were representatives from SINOMACH Hainan, encompassing five companies from Hangzhou and Guangxi provinces, the Cambodian cashew nut producer Nat Agro Co., Ltd., and members of the Cambodian Cashew Federation Association.

Under the terms of this partnership, Cambodia aims to export 20,000 tons of dried cashews and 5,000 tons of processed cashews to China annually, projected to generate substantial revenue over the next three years.

H.E. Samheng Bora emphasized that this initiative is a testament to the Cambodian government’s commitment to not only maintaining established markets but also expanding into new territories. He also highlighted the importance of encouraging further investments within the Cambodian cashew sector.

The Ministry of Commerce has called on SINOMACH Hainan to investigate potential additional investments to enhance domestic cashew processing capabilities, which would further strengthen the value chain of Cambodia’s cashew industry.

This strategic agreement underscores the growing collaboration between Cambodia and China, signaling a promising future for the Cambodian cashew market as it seeks to establish a strong foothold in one of the world’s largest consumer markets.
