Cambodia and Hong Kong Strengthen Ties in Water Resources and Meteorology

In a significant step toward enhancing regional cooperation, Cambodia and Hong Kong have committed to advancing collaboration in the areas of water resources and meteorology. The pledges were formalized during a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding held on September 9, 2025, involving the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia and the National Meteorological Observatory of Hong Kong.

His Excellency Oeung Chantha, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Water Resources, emphasized that this partnership aims to bolster operational capacity and meteorological services in alignment with international standards. The focus will particularly be on supporting international civil aviation and improving regional weather forecasting, which are crucial for both safety and environmental sustainability.

Additionally, the Ministry has reiterated its commitment to modernizing the meteorological sector and enhancing cooperation with development partners. This initiative will pave the way for better utilization of meteorological data across various sectors, ensuring that Cambodia is well-prepared for future challenges.

With this agreement, both Cambodia and Hong Kong are set to strengthen their capacities in meteorology, laying a foundation for sustainable development and improved resilience to climate-related challenges in the region.
