Cambodia and Japan Strengthen Tourism Ties Amid Rising Visitor Numbers

The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia welcomed a delegation from Japan’s Aichi Prefecture and leading Japanese private companies this week, aiming to deepen cooperation and boost tourism exchange between the two nations.

Discussions centered on diversifying tourism markets, expanding promotional activities, and exploring the possibility of direct flight connections to further increase visitor flows.

Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak underscored the significance of the meeting, noting that collaboration would help showcase the unique destinations of both Cambodia and Japan. “Our shared goal is to promote sustainable tourism growth by enhancing awareness, organizing joint promotion events, and improving connectivity,” he said.

The Minister also praised the contribution of Japanese companies to Cambodia’s tourism development, emphasizing their role in attracting more Japanese travelers. He encouraged ongoing dialogue and feedback to support future initiatives.

According to official figures, Cambodia welcomed more than 73,000 Japanese visitors during the first eight months of 2025, reflecting strong interest from Japanese tourists.
