Hospitality Expansion: Germany’s TUI Group and OCIC Launch TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh as Third Major Cambodian Hotel

German tourism and hospitality giant TUI Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation, officially inaugurated TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh on September 30, 2026. The grand opening ceremony was presided over by Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak, marking the official brand debut of TUI Suneo in the Kingdom and expanding the German group’s operational footprint to three major properties across Cambodia.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Huot Hak highlighted that the launch of TUI Suneo Olympia Phnom Penh directly addresses the growing influx of international tourists and business travelers. The new Phnom Penh property builds upon TUI’s established presence in key Cambodian destinations, following the success of its earlier developments, TUI Blue Sihanoukville in Preah Sihanouk province and TUI Blue Angkor Grace in Siem Reap province. The minister emphasized that TUI’s expanding footprint plays an active role in elevating the country’s accommodation standards while generating thousands of direct employment opportunities for local citizens across its three operating sites.

The Ministry of Tourism commended the investment decision as a strategic and timely move, describing it as a golden opportunity aligned with Cambodia’s upcoming diplomatic milestone. Phnom Penh is set to host the 20th Francophonie Summit from November 14 to 16, 2026, an event expected to bring heads of state, foreign delegations, and international media to the capital. Expanding premium hotel capacity in Phnom Penh is crucial for supporting large-scale international gatherings and bolstering the Kingdom’s overall hospitality infrastructure.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to private sector partnership, the Ministry of Tourism continues to encourage major German and European companies to invest in Cambodia. Tourism officials stressed that deepening multi-sectoral cooperation between Cambodia and Germany, particularly within the hospitality, travel, and service sectors, will further accelerate economic growth and enhance Cambodia’s standing as a premier global destination.
