Cambodia Generates Over $17 Million from Angkor Ticket Sales in First Five Months of 2026

State-owned Angkor Enterprise reports a decline in international visitors and revenue compared to previous periods, while secondary heritage sites contribute to tourism earnings

Cambodia’s tourism sector generated more than $17 million from ticket sales at the Angkor Archaeological Park during the first five months of 2026, according to an official report from Angkor Enterprise. The state-owned institution released its latest figures on June 1, 2026, revealing that a total of 359,471 international tourists purchased entry passes between January and May, which represents a 31.86% decline in visitor numbers. This contraction in tourism volume resulted in gross ticket revenues of $17,204,322, marking a 29.98% drop in earnings.

Beyond the primary Angkor park area, Angkor Enterprise disclosed revenue streams from several other key historical and cultural destinations across the region. The Koh Ker temple complex brought in over $110,000, while Beng Mealea temple generated $77,900 in ticket sales. Visitors to the Kbal Spean underwater carving site contributed $3,230, and boat ticket operations at the Chong Kneas port area accumulated an additional $398,315.

The recent downward trend follows a broader contraction observed over the past year. Throughout the entirety of 2025, Angkor Park welcomed 955,131 international ticket-buying visitors, generating a total annual revenue of $44.71 million. When measured against the performance metrics of 2024, the 2025 figures already reflected a 6.7% drop in international arrivals and a corresponding 6.51% decrease in financial intake. Tourism authorities continue to monitor these shifts as they adapt promotional strategies to revitalize international interest in Cambodia’s cultural heritage landmarks. (read more)
