Cambodia Selecting Best Villages to Join UNWTO’s ‘Best Tourism Villages’ Competition

The Ministry of Tourism is selecting the three best villages from a group of 100 villages nationwide for the `Best Tourism Village` competition of the United Nation’s World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The government has decided to select its best villages under the procedure of the Clean City contest, according to the statement of the Council of the Ministers dated 13 July.

The ideal village should be a village with an effective urbanisation system or a village with great tourism potential.

The Ministry of Tourism said that participating in the competition will provide an opportunity for potential villages to develop further through the exchange of experiences from other countries around the world.

The winner will not only become a member of the world’s best village network and but also bring home knowledge and development experiences as well.

UNWTO states that the best tourism village is a village working for the wellbeing of its residents and visitors and a village with a vision of tourism as a tool of inclusive and sustainable development.
