Construction of Kampot International Tourism Seaport Delayed

Construction of the Kampot international tourism seaport will not meet the completion deadline as planned due to the impact of COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the new deadline for construction completion has been reset to late 2021.

“Currently, the construction work is about 30% complete. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the completion date has been rescheduled to late 2021. Meanwhile, the operation will start in early 2022,” said the Ministry’s Under Secretary of State HE Top Sopheak.

Due to the pandemic, the construction of this project has been distracted again and again. In May, the construction was completed about 30%, yet there is not much progress as of today. (Read more)

Once operational, the 300-metre-long port will allow the docking of tourism vessels, which can carry up to 300 to 400 passengers.

The Kampot international tourism seaport will be the main gateway connecting tourism vessels from Thailand and Vietnam to Cambodia’s Kampot province.
