Monivong Flyover Project Progresses: 25% Completion and Bridges Installed

The Monivong flyover construction project has reached a significant milestone, with approximately 25% of the work completed as of July 11. This update comes from Mr. Sam Piseth, Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, in an interview with local newspaper BTV on July 11, 2023.

The construction site is currently active along the 60-meter road in the N1 and N2 areas, where the technical team is diligently installing several bridges. Notably, the construction site in the N3 area, situated on Monivong Boulevard, has already commenced foundation drilling. However, it is important to mention that Street 271 is yet to undergo construction.

Once the Monivong flyover project is complete, it will greatly alleviate traffic congestion in Phnom Penh, a city experiencing a continuous increase in the number of vehicles and traffic volume each year. The strategic positioning of the flyover at the intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd., Monivong Blvd., and St. 217 in Khan Chamkarmon and Khan Meanchey will ensure smoother and more efficient traffic flow throughout the area.

Implemented by OCIC, the Preah Monivong flyover project carries a price tag exceeding US$36 million and is estimated to be completed within a span of 36 months. This crucial infrastructure development will not only enhance the city’s transportation system but also contribute to its overall growth and progress.

As construction progresses, the Monivong flyover project stands as a testament to Cambodia’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and providing its residents with improved connectivity and convenience. The completion of this landmark project will mark a significant milestone in Phnom Penh’s urban development.
