Dara Sakor Int’l Airport to Redelay, Siem Reap Starts Flight Validation

Siem Reap Angkor International Airport has started flight validation while Darasakor International Airport will be delayed opening once again due to some issues.

According to H.E. Tek Reth Samrech, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport has been testing its flight validation.

Siem Reap Angkor International Airport will be officially opened in June 2023 and will be implemented by Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd (AIAI) with an investment of more than 1 billion dollars.  America.  (Read more)

Meanwhile, Darasakor International Airport in Koh Kong province will be postponed again and will not be able to operate as planned.  Mao Keo Pich Chanmony, Director of Darasakor International Airport of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, told Construction and Property Magazine on May 13, 2023, that the company had already applied for a postponement and to reconfirm and set the launch schedule next time.  However, the company promises to try to complete the remaining work in the near future.

The Covid-19 pandemic has slowed the construction and supply of materials which affected the construction process and the planned budget.  The company requires more time to complete the construction and launch, according to the director of the airport.

Regarding the additional budget package, he pointed out that the company has not confirmed because the company is dealing with this issue as an internal matter. Currently, the construction continues as usual, just with a little activity, he added.

It should be mentioned that as of the first quarter of 2023, Darasakor International Airport has completed 80% of the construction.  (Read more)
