European Ventures into Cambodia’s Thriving Port and Logistics Landscape

CMA CGM (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. A subsidiary of CMA CGM, the world’s third-largest French container company has expressed a keen interest in spearheading two transformative projects in port transportation and logistics within Cambodia. The announcement came following a pivotal meeting between Ms. Esra BORA, General Manager of Cambodia/Vietnam for CMA CGM, and HE Peng Po, Minister of Public Works and Transport, on December 19, 2023.

During the meeting, the company delegation conveyed their strong enthusiasm for contributing to the development of Cambodia’s transportation and logistics sectors. The spotlight was on two major initiatives—the Kampot Multi-Purpose Port Development Project and the Phnom Penh Logistics Center Development Project. The delegation sought detailed insights into these projects, emphasizing the importance of thorough exploration before venturing into potential collaborations.

HE Minister Peng Po seized the opportunity to highlight the plethora of investment prospects within the transportation and logistics domain. He provided valuable insights into pivotal projects, notably the comprehensive master plan for the inter-transport and logistics system spanning 2023-2033. The Royal Government’s recent approval of 174 projects, requiring an estimated investment capital of approximately $36.6 billion, underscores the vast opportunities awaiting potential investors.
