Government and Private Sector Join Forces to Transform Koh Kong into a Premier Luxury Tourism Destination

Minister of Tourism Huot Hak visits the newly developed Koh Totung Resort with high-end facilities and emphasizes the province’s potential for elite travelers

The Royal Government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to elevating Koh Kong province as a premier destination for high-end tourism, focusing on luxury experiences and sustainable development. This strategic direction was highlighted during an official study tour and field inspection of the newly established Koh Totung Resort on March 23, 2026, led by His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and accompanied by provincial administration officials.

During the visit, the Ministry of Tourism and the Koh Kong Provincial Administration expressed a shared pledge to collaborate closely with the private sector. This partnership aims to accelerate the transformation of the coastal province into a world-class hub for both domestic and international tourists seeking exclusive, high-standard travel experiences. Minister Huot Hak emphasized that such high-level developments are crucial for diversifying Cambodia’s tourism offerings and attracting high-spending visitors to the region.

The Koh Totung Resort serves as a flagship for this new era of tourism in Koh Kong. The facility features a range of premium amenities, including luxury leisure villas and authentic traditional Khmer-style wooden houses. Guests can access a variety of wellness and relaxation facilities, including a library, a dedicated gym and yoga space, and a swimming pool. The resort also offers curated experiences such as sunset viewing points and high-quality dining at its on-site restaurant, all designed to provide a serene and highly comfortable environment for guests.

In his concluding remarks, Minister Huot Hak encouraged the resort’s management and other private developers in the province to prioritize aesthetics, hygiene, and exceptional service standards. By maintaining these high benchmarks, the Minister noted, Koh Kong can successfully compete on an international level and solidify its reputation as a leading luxury destination, contributing significantly to the national economy and local livelihoods.
