Gov’t greenlights request for establishing 5 ecotourism destinations in Kulen national park

The Siem Reap Provincial Administration has given the green light to the private firms’ requests to establish five small ecotourism sites in Phnom Kulen National Park after inspecting the actual location on Thursday.

The administration also advises the firms to do EIA with the full report before getting final approval from the Minister of Environment.

Each project will cover an area of no more than 10 hectares per project, located in Ta Penh and Khnong Phnom villages of Svay Leu district, and Bos Thom village of Sot Nikum district.

The inspection was done by multiple government bodies led by Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment HE Sao Sopheap and Siem Reap Deputy Governor Mr. Ngan Phirun.

Besides waiting for the full report from the firms, the technical team of the Ministry of Environment and APSARA Authority will also study more detail regarding the impact on archeology and ecology before giving final approval.
