Gov’t Sets Four Roadmaps to Transform Mondulkiri to International Eco-Tourism City

The Cambodian government has set four roadmaps to transform Mondulkiri into an international eco-tourism destination.

These four roadmaps were announced on 04 July and will be implemented following the Tourism Master Plan (2021-2035).

First, Mondulkiri will be a hub to supply flowers, vegetables, fruit, and meat for both domestic and foreign markets.

Second, by 2035, Mondulkiri aims for over 900,000 international tourists and 2 million local tourists. This amount of tourism would create about 80,000 jobs, US$500 million in direct income, and US$1 billion in indirect income.

Third, Mondulkiri will become the fourth economic pole after Phnom Penh, coastal provinces, and Siem Reap.

Fourth, the government must ensure a balance between economic development, tourism, the environment, natural resources, and cultural heritage.
