MoT & Samra Seaplane Forge Dynamic Partnership to Propel Cambodian Air Transport Services & Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism has embarked on a transformative collaboration with Samra Seaplane. This ambitious partnership, unveiled during a pivotal meeting on 1 August 2023, between HE Chuk Chumnor, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Tourism, and Mr Dennis Keller, the visionary CEO of Samra Seaplane, in a joint venture of the renowned Royal Group, has ignited the pursuit of this air transport venture.

Under the aegis of this collaborative endeavour, Cambodia is poised to import two avant-garde seaplanes by the close of 2023. These iconic vessels, emblematic of innovative travel experiences, are poised to revolutionise the tourism sector by offering unparalleled access to the nation’s resplendent coastal paradises.

The focal point of this visionary partnership lies in an audacious project to enhance air transport services, orchestrating seamless and swift travel experiences for tourists, with an emphasis on maritime connections. As part of their strategic blueprint, Samra Seaplane is actively liaising with the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation to undertake official flight registrations, while meticulously scrutinising the technical and legal prerequisites for the imminent expansion of their flight offerings.

The company’s forward-looking strategy encompasses the introduction of two surface aircraft types, scheduled to make their debut by the year’s end. The Siem Reap-Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville routes, punctuated by the splendid majesty of destinations such as Koh Sangsa, Koh Krabei, and the esteemed Royal Sand Hotel, are poised to grace the aerial tapestry.

Acknowledging the profound potential of this collaboration, the Ministry of Tourism has also proposed the exploration of flight routes to other vital provinces like Mondulkiri and the upper Mekong region. These regions, intricately woven into Cambodia’s meticulous tourism development master plan, hold the promise of enriching the nation’s touristic allure.

The Royal Group, headed by Okhna Kith Meng, has joined hands with the esteemed Chinese enterprise Hong Kong Seaplane Asia Limited. Their synergy has materialised into a groundbreaking joint venture agreement, poised to unveil Cambodia’s pioneering seaplane service. This landmark accord is set to usher in an era of swift, seamless, and luxurious travel, poised to transform the paradigms of exploring Cambodia’s iconic resorts, pristine beaches, and enchanting tourist enclaves.
