Opening of Dara Sakor Airport in Koh Kong Postponed to Mid-2022

The operation date of the Dara Sakor International Airport in Koh Kong province has been postponed until mid-2022, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

Dara Sakor International Airport reportedly announced in late 2021 that it would start trial operations in early 2022, as the construction of the airport’s major infrastructure is nearing completion.

Under-Secretary of SSCA HE Sin Chansereyvutha said on 29 March that the project had been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

“Due to the hard impact of COVID-19, the firm postponed trial operations again from early 2022 to the mid-2022,” he said.

A US$350 million investment by Chinese firm Tianjin Union Development Group (UDG), the airport will be able to handle long-haul aircrafts such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A340.
