Takhmao City Wastewater Infrastructure Project Reaches One-Third Completion Milestone

The construction of the wastewater treatment system in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, has reached a significant milestone, achieving an overall progress of 33 percent as of the end of April 2026. This advancement was confirmed during a site visit on May 7, 2026, led by His Excellency Ros Vanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Director of the Project. The inspection was conducted alongside relevant stakeholders and the technical team from the Joint Venture of KUMHO-TECHCROSS, the firm tasked with the project’s execution.

During the assessment, His Excellency Ros Vanna emphasized that the development of this wastewater treatment system is a large-scale priority designed to serve the essential needs of Takhmao’s residents. He noted that the project is specifically engineered to mitigate recurring urban issues such as flooding and the improper management of liquid waste, which are critical for the city’s health and environmental integrity. This initiative underscores the proactive commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport acting as the primary coordinating body.

As the project moves forward, the overall progress recorded by late April 2026 remains consistent with the established development timeline, which targets a final completion date in 2028. This long-term investment in Takhmao’s urban infrastructure is expected to modernize the city’s sanitation capabilities and significantly improve the daily quality of life for its population. The project reflects a broader national strategy to enhance municipal services and build more resilient cities across the Kingdom, ensuring sustainable growth for future generations. (read more)
