Cambodia and Japan’s Zo Motors Sign Landmark Agreement to Boost Electric Vehicle Skills Training

The Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with Zo Motors, a prominent Japanese new energy commercial vehicle manufacturer, to launch specialized training initiatives in electric vehicle technology. The high-level signing ceremony took place on June 15, 2026, under the presidency of HE Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and Mr. He Dong, Chief Executive Officer of Zo Motors Global. This partnership marks a significant stride toward equipping the domestic workforce with the technical skills required for the modern automotive era.

This strategic collaboration aims to advance national environmental goals by promoting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and fostering the development of green transportation networks across the country. Beyond technical workforce training, the agreement outlines plans to raise awareness and conduct comprehensive studies on policy standards and innovative financial mechanisms. These frameworks are specifically intended to support and build safe, sustainable, and eco-friendly commuter transport systems for factory workers and employees.

Zo Motors is recognized for manufacturing and distributing cutting-edge new energy commercial vehicles, with a core corporate focus on developing zero-emission transport solutions tailored for the logistics and transit sectors. By assembling and distributing its initial fleet of electric vehicles directly in Cambodia, the company introduces clean energy alternatives and smart transportation technologies to the local market. The company’s global vision centers on restructuring transport efficiency, positioning carbon-free transit as a dynamic new catalyst for macroeconomic expansion.

This latest agreement reflects a broader, concerted effort by the Cambodian government to modernize its technical and vocational education and training sector to match shifting global trends. The initiative follows a similar strategic partnership established recently between the Ministry of Labour and China’s BYD Cambodia Company Limited, which also focused on enhancing vocational training cooperation within the automotive and New Energy Vehicle industries.
